Comparing yourself to others is a quick way to become stressed, frustrated, and unhappy. We have all been guilty of it at some point in our lives. Nowadays, I just say that it is hard enough being me. So, I could not imagine trying to be somebody else. As Dr. Heidi Hanna says in the book Recharge: 5 Simple Shifts To Energize Your Life:
“The most stressful thing we do every day is try to be someone that we’re not.”

There is always going to be things that people are better at than we are, as well as things people have that we may want. But, those things only matter if we make that comparison. In this social media era, it is possible that they are not doing as well as their pictures and videos might portray. Also, keep in mind that there are also things that you can do that others can’t – and things you have that other people wish they had. So, embrace your gifts (material and otherwise), be gracious, and try to become a better version of yourself than you were the day before.
“In the end, what matters most is how well you lived, how well you loved, and how well you learned to let go.”
– Ziad K. Abdelnour
So, let go of comparing yourself to others. Enjoy being who you are, and if you need to make changes – do it based being a better you. As I stated before, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself.
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
– Dr Seuss
